WTO-World Bank TS4D Services Trade Competitiveness Dashboard

The WTO-World Bank TS4D Services Trade Competitiveness Dashboard, jointly developed by the WTO and the World Bank, provides access to a wide range of indicators relevant for the assessment of countries' performance and competitiveness in services trade. It includes data on the contribution of services in the domestic economy, trade performance, services trade policies, and complementary policies. The dashboard allows to compare up to 5 economies at a time and provides visualizations on the basis of the different indicators. The underlying data comes from existing databases (mostly WTO and World Bank), with certain additional indicators derived from existing data.

Key Data Components:
Indicators of the role of services in the domestic economy: detailed measures of the contribution of services to (i) economic growth and employment, (ii) the sectoral composition, (iii) breaks down employment across individual services sectors, (iv) measures on labour productivity in services, measured as value added per worker, (v) measure on inclusiveness in services and (vi) metrics on backward and forward linkages between services and other sectors, highlighting services’ role as inputs into the wider economy.

Indicators of trade performance: (i) data on services exports and i- mports based on WTO – UNCTAD balance-of-payments statistics, (ii) Bilateral Trade Flows using the WTO-OECD BATIS statistics, (iii) Digitally Delivered Services Trade using WTO's Global Services Data Hub statistics, (iv) Trade in Services by Mode of Supply using WTO Global Services Data Hub, (v) Services Value Added in International Trade using OECD TIVA data, (vi) indicator of revealed comparative advantage, (vii) indicator of export diversification and viii) indicator of export sophistication measuring the revealed income content of an economy’s export basket.

Indicators of services trade policies: STRI scores by Member and Sector Group (WB-WTO data).

Indicators of complementary policies affecting services trade performance, including indicators of logistics policies (WB logistics performance index) and digital connectivity indicators (from the ITU).
