MFN trade shares in merchandise trade

This dataset presents the share of merchandise trade conducted under Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff treatment by reporting economy. It is constructed using a comprehensive compilation of customs data notified by WTO Members to the WTO Integrated Database, complemented by additional sources as presented in the WTO's Analytical Database. The methodology accounts for preferential tariff regimes and the utilization of trade preferences. By combining detailed tariff information with bilateral trade flows for more than 170 economies, the dataset enables consistent comparisons of MFN trade import shares across economies, regions, product groups, and income levels. The data provide empirical evidence on the continued prevalence of MFN treatment in global merchandise trade.
