Environment-Related Trade Measures and Policies

The WTO Environmental Database (EDB) compiles environment-related measures from WTO Members' notifications, as well as environment-related measures and policies mentioned in the Trade Policy Reviews (TPRs). It consolidates the environment-related measures and policies in a structured format, that allows to identify the measures by Member, WTO Agreement, Year, environmental objective, types of measure, types of sector, HS code, and environment-related keywords. The database enhances transparency and facilitates informed analysis on environment-related trade practices.

The data is structured to facilitate analysis and integration, supporting Excel and CSV formats.

Key Data Components:
1. Environment-related measures from Notifications: Records of environment-related measures found in notifications submitted by Members under the WTO Agreements: Technical Barriers to Trade, Sanitary or Phytosanitary measures, Agriculture, Import Licensing Procedures, Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, Quantitative Restrictions, Trade Facilitation, Regional Trade Agreements, Government Procurement, Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, General Agreement on Trade in Services, State Trading, Safeguards, Customs Valuation, Trade-eRlated Investment Measures, Anti-dumping, Balance of Payments, Pre-shipment inspection, Rules of Origin, etc.

2. Trade Policy Review entries: Includes environment-related policies mentioned in WTO's Trade Policy Review, from both the Government and the Secretariat report.

3. Infographics: A functionality of the database that allows users to filter data by year, and visualize the results by WTO Members, environmental objective, types of sector, etc.

4. Members: A functionality that allows users to filter the data by WTO Member, to quickly see the total of environment-related measures, classified by environmental objective, types of measure and types of sector.
