Dispute Settlement Documents

The WTO Dispute Settlement Documents dataset provides access to official documents related to the WTO dispute settlement process.  It covers every dispute brought under the Dispute Settlement Understanding (DSU) from 1995 to today. This includes panel and Appellate Body reports, as well as other related documents.

Key Data Components:
Comprehensive case profiles: Each dispute (identified by its “DS” number) is described by short title, complainant(s), respondent(s), third parties, and the WTO agreements cited in the request for consultations.
Procedural timeline: Time‑stamped milestones record when consultations were requested, a panel was established, reports were circulated, appeals were filed, compliance or retaliation proceedings were launched, proceedings were suspended, the authority of the panel lapsed, the parties reached a mutually agreed solution, or the proceedings were otherwise terminated.
Official documents library: For each case the dataset lists (and links to) all publicly‑circulated documents, including requests for consultations, panel and Appellate Body reports, Article 21.3(c) and 22.6 arbitration awards, status reports and mutually agreed solutions.
Participation data: Dedicated fields display the participation of each Member in disputes, including an interactive disputes map.
Subject‑matter indicators: Keyword tags derived from short titles and the “agreements cited” search classify disputes by topic (e.g., anti‑dumping, agriculture, IP, services) and by subject (e.g., aircraft, steel, lumber etc.).
