WTO Trade Monitoring

The WTO Trade Monitoring Database (TMDB) is a comprehensive repository maintained by the World Trade Organization (WTO) that catalogs new trade and trade policy-related measures implemented by its Members and observers. This database serves as a key resource for understanding and analysing the dynamics of global trade policies and as a basis for the WTO Trade Monitoring Reports. The information contained in TMDB comes from inputs submitted by WTO Members and Observers directly to the Trade Monitoring Exercise and from other official and public sources. All trade measures are shared with Members and Observers for verification.

Key Data Components:
1. Measures on Goods: Records of trade-related measures affecting goods on imports and exports, including tariffs, non-tariff barriers, quantitative restrictions, licensing requirements and trade remedy actions. Mesures are categorised as trade remedies, trade-facilitating and other measures.

2. Measures in Services: Information on trade-related measures affecting services sectors, such as telecommunications, finance, and transportation. It includes both horizontal measures and those specific to individual service sectors.

3. Intellectual Property (IP) Measures: Data on measures related to intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. It highlights changes in IP regimes.

4. COVID-19 Related Measures: Details of trade-related measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It includes measures on goods, services, IP, as well as support measures communicated by WTO Members and Observers.
