Services Trade Policy Database and STRI

The World Bank-WTO Services Trade Policy Database (STPD) and Services Trade Restrictions Index (STRI) contains information on current services trade policies and regulations applied by approximately 140 economies in 34 service sectors, and the respective Services Trade Restrictions Indices (STRI). The regulatory and policy information for around 100 of those economies was collected through surveys conducted by the World Bank and the WTO (information for CEFTA parties was collected in cooperation with the CEFTA Secretariat; information for several African economies was collected in cooperation with ITC, GIZ and the EU). Information for other economies was mainly sourced from the OECD STRI regulatory database thanks to the cooperation of the OECD.

Key Data Components:
Policy Measures: Detailed records of regulations and restrictions affecting services trade, including licensing requirements, foreign equity limitations, and restrictions on the movement of natural persons.
Services Trade Restrictions Index (STRI): A quantitative index measuring the restrictiveness of services trade policies, facilitating cross-country and cross-sector comparisons.
