SPS & TBT Notifications and Specific Trade Concerns

The ePing SPS & TBT Platform is a comprehensive online tool that covers all Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) notifications submitted by WTO Members, the trade concerns raised in the SPS and TBT committees, and the official contact details of all national enquiry points and notification authorities.

Key Data Components :
1. SPS and TBT Notifications :
SPS Notifications: These pertain to measures that protect human, animal, or plant life or health. They include product requirements concerning food safety, animal and plant health, as well as related processes and production methods, testing, inspection, certification and approval procedures, quarantine treatments, statistical methods, sampling procedures, methods of risk assessment, and packaging and labelling requirements directly related to food safety.
TBT Notifications: These involve technical regulations affecting trade in goods. They encompass product specifications, labeling requirements, and conformity assessment procedures that Members implement to achieve legitimate objectives such as national security, consumer protection, and environmental preservation.

2. Trade Concerns: Records Member(s) raising and supporting a concern as well as the statements they make in Committee meetings, the subject matter, the dates and number of times the concern has been discussed; related notifications and documents; status of concerns; and relevant keywords. These concerns highlight potential trade barriers and facilitate dialogue among Members to address and resolve issues collaboratively.

3. Member Profiles: Detailed profiles by WTO Member the number of SPS&TBT notifications they have submitted since 1995 as well as their involvement in discussions related to trade concerns. The profiles also include information on Members' designated Enquiry Points and Notification Authorities, SPS/TBT sections of their Trade Policy Reviews, and documents they have submitted to the SPS/TBT Committees.

4. Classification: Notification according to the Harmonized System (HS) or International Classification for Standards (ICS).
